SAFETY ON THE STREETS

THINK!

Traffic is the single biggest cause of accidental death for
12-16 year olds.

In 2004, 57 teenage pedestrians (aged 11-16)
were killed on Britain's roads.

There were also 1,407 serious injuries and 6,013 minor injuries.

 Why is this?

This is the sort of thing that can happen when people don't think:

There have been cases of young people actually walking into the side of buses;
they have walked into the road without looking because they have been texting.

Listening to music on headphones is also big on the distractions list.

Remember that part of the green cross code is

STOP.....LOOK .....LISTEN!!!

If you know that you are about to cross a road, take out your headphones for a moment.

If you are walking along chatting, or on your phone
make sure that you look around every few seconds or so.

It’s common sense really!

There are lots of ‘new’ things that you re thinking about

but you should never forget the importance of road safety.
